Mr. Saali was formerly Executive Vice President of HSBC Bank USA. Prior to that, he had served as President of Republic New York Corporation and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Republic National Bank of New York since December 1998. Mr. Saali was instrumental in the sale of Republic New York Corporation and its affiliate Safra Republic Holding to HSBC Holdings for approximately $10 billion.
Mr. Saali served as an officer of Republic New York Corporation for ten years and was made a Managing Director in 1997. He joined Republic in 1988 as a member of its management-training program. In his twelve years with Republic, Mr. Saali received eight promotions. During this time, he has coordinated Republic’s global acquisitions, including Williamsburgh Savings Bank, Manhattan Savings Bank and Brooklyn Bancorp. Mr. Saali also helped launch the public offerings of Safra Republic Holdings. In the capital markets area, he is the principal arranger of several innovative products, including the 1,000-year bond for Safra Republic Holdings and the 100-year note for Republic New York Corporation.
Prior to joining Republic, Mr. Saali worked at Salomon Brothers, where he was in the investment banking training program and the stock research area.
Mr. Saali received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University with a dual major in economics and organizational behavior. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University with a dual major in international business and finance. |
