Operating as a money center bank from 1973 through 2000, Republic National Bank of New York (“RNB”) had offices in 38 countries and clients in 85 countries with total assets of $50 billion. It was the flagship of the banking empire of the late Edmond Safra.

Elias Saal, Stephen J. Saali and Dov C. Schlein established NuVerse following the sale of Republic New York Corporation, parent company of Republic National Bank of New York, to HSBC Holdings for $10 billion. Prior to the sale of Republic, Mr. Saal was president of the bank and chairman of the executive committee of both the corporation and the bank, Mr. Schlein was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of both the corporation and the bank, and Mr. Saali was president of the corporation and vice chairman of the bank.
